Is Xylitol safe for diabetics?

In the modern diet, adding sugar to the food you consume is unhealthy. Therefore, sugar-free sweeteners like Xylitol is a great alternative to sugar.

Xylitol is a "sugar alcohol", type of carbohydrate that has a chemical structure. It is found in small amounts in many fruits and vegetables and therefore is considered natural. It has a natural sweetness as regular sugar so stimulates the sweet taste buds.

Unlike regular sugar, Xylitol has a very low glycemic index. Xylitol's glycemic index (GI) is only 7 whereas regular sugar's is 60-70. Xylitol also helps in reducing blood glucose and insulin secretion. Therefore, Xylitol has antidiabetic effects.

Xylitol is a good sugar substitute for people with diabetes.
